Front Squat

The front squat places the barbell on your front deltoids, forcing a more upright torso and emphasizing quad development. It's excellent for Olympic lifting preparation.

How to Perform Front Squat

  1. 1
Set up in a squat rack with the bar at upper chest height.
  2. 2
Position the bar on your front deltoids, crossing your arms to secure it or using a clean grip.
  3. 3
Step back and set feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out.
  4. 4
Keep elbows high (parallel to the ground) throughout the movement.
  5. 5
Squat down while maintaining an upright torso—more vertical than a back squat.
  6. 6
Drive through your feet to stand, keeping elbows up to prevent the bar from rolling forward.
